Prayer: A Study of 12 Great Prayers – We have direct access to the God who created the universe. Throughout the Bible He encourages us to speak directly to him. He encourages us to bring our praises, requests, concerns and struggles to him through prayer. With an invitation like that, why is prayer such a difficult and challenges habit to form?
Learning from the Best – Scripture is full of men and women who developed powerful prayer lives. This study, provides a glimpse into the prayers of 12 different people, from 12 different books of the Bible, who were desperately in pursuit of God. Each one integrated prayer into the highs and lows of life. As you engage this study, you will discover how great men and women of the faith learned to called out to God in times of crisis as well as joy. You will explore triumphant songs of praise and desperate pleas for mercy. Each of the 12 prayers selected provide us with a different perspective on the power and possibility available to us as we seek to develop the habit of prayer in our lives.
The best way to develop and strengthen our our ability to communicate with God, is by experiencing the prayers of those who learned to pray well. My pastor, Pierre DuPlessis often says, “prayer is caught, not taught.” This study is designed to help you get close to people who offered great prayers to God and catch some inspiration for your own relationship with Him.
My prayer is that you would believe the invitation in Hebrews 4:16 to come boldly to God in prayer, and that the power promised in James 5:16 would become manifest in your life as you engage this study.
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
“The prayer of a righteous person has great power in its working.” James 5:16
