As we discovered in the previous posts, there was an excellent spirit in Daniel and a he made a series of strategic life choices that caused him to standout and rise above his peers.
We read about his second major promotion in Daniel chapter 2 when he is summoned by the King and asked to interpret the meaning of a nightmare that had kept the King awake. God provides Daniel with miraculous wisdom and insight to recount and explain the meaning of the dream.
Rather than take any credit for this accomplishment, Daniel gave all the honor and credit to God. He explained to the king, “there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries… this mystery has been revealed to me, not because of any wisdom that I have…” (Daniel 2:28 & 30). It would have been easy to take the credit and all the honor that would naturally follow. But that isn’t what Daniel chose.
Daniel knew the promise of God write in 1 Samuel 2:30, “the Lord declares… for those who honor me I will honor.”

Daniel, as we find out a few verses later, was given a promotion to rule over the entire province of Babylon. All the wise men of the nation were put under his leadership. God honored Daniel because Daniel honored God.
When you accomplish something great, and those around want to honor you… how will you respond?
